Although when I was in school I hated most maths, I LOVED Geometry and was quite good at it. I think it is because it is something I could see.
As a Montessori elementary teacher, I adored the geometry curriculum with the constructive triangles, beautiful wooden cabinet and geometry sticks.
So although Gray is taking Geometry class at co-op this year, I wanted to make sure he had some good hands on experience.
I found something online that is an incredible resource and it’s free!
Veteran math teacher Henri Picciotto has authored a book called Geometry Labs that is available for download.
It is SO comprehensive and I love that it requires manipulatives for each excercise. They are simple and affordable items like pentominoes, tangrams, and pattern blocks.
I am so looking forward to diving into this resource!
It is geared toward middle and high school students, but some of you with younger students might just make a mental note.
